UPDATED x2: Weaponized Pulpits: A Response to Dean Odle's Sermon (1/25/2026)

A response to how a Lt Gov Candiate weaponizes the pulpit, in his quest for votes.

UPDATED x2: Weaponized Pulpits: A Response to Dean Odle's Sermon (1/25/2026)

OPINION - Previously, we covered his sermon from last Sunday, where in my judgment, my words were deliberately mischaracterized. Then, there was the debate at the Hoover Public Library, hosted by Rightside Media, where he brought a weapon and claimed it was from Lt Col Allen West, but it when I went to compare it with the model tomahawks LTC West hands out, it appeared to be a totally different style and model tomahawk than what he gives out (you can buy them on Etsy though).

Today, we have his response to the happenings of the debate on this past Tuesday, and it is not a shocker, based on what I already know. In my view, Dean Odle would not be a good choice for Lieutenant Governor for the State of Alabama, nor as Clergy.

The original videos were taken down from Facebook, and replaced with a new video, which contains edits that include jump cuts. New Video Linked Here (which is also now archived by automation).
Around the same time, I see a hit to this page from Auburn from an iPhone.

The below two originals were captured and uploaded under fair use rules, a publicly broadcasted sermon, as a matter of public interest during the 2026 AL Lt Governor Election.

Part 2

Update 2025-01-25 : Dean Odle issues a post which looks similar to an apology, and his followers extol his apology.

Foundation: Why this response is necessary

Key Principle:

"Do not receive an accusation against an elder except on the basis of two or three witnesses."
--1 Timothy 5:19

This is not hearsay. This is a recorded, public sermon, preached by:

  • A self-described prophet of the end times.
  • A sitting pastor.
  • A declared political candidate for Alabama Lt. Governor.
  • A PhD holder from Pilgrims University in Nigeria (now known as a degree mill).

Scripture commands believers to test public teaching, especially when:

  • God's name is invoked to claim authority.
  • Fear, judgment, and mockery are used.
  • Political power is blended with spiritual coercion.
"Test everything; hold fast to what is good"
--1 Thessalonians 5:21

Performative Prayer as Spiritual Manipulation

Odle opens with a "prayer" that:

  • Generalizes unnamed enemies, people who disagrees with him, or vice versa.
  • Frames critics as spiritually corrupt, so-called Christians, or non-Christians.
  • Pre-loads the audience emotionally.

Biblical Standard:

"And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray... that they may be seen by others"
--Matthew 6:5

Prayer is not a rhetorical shield. When prayer is used to pre-judge opponents, or call someone out, it ceases to be prayer, and becomes theater. It is also in vain.

Public Name-Calling and Slander from the Pulpit

This one is difficult, because there's a fine line between first amendment protected criticism of a political official or candidate. There are some exceptions in law here. However, these are citizen/journalists spoken of here, by name.

Direct quotes from Rev Odle in this sermon, describing the moderators Allison Sinclair and Amy Beth Shaver include:

  • "The moderators, Allison Sinclair and Amy Beth Shaver.... Those heiffers, bless their hearts, they decided to go on attack mode, not just about biblical cosmology, misrepresenting me".... "slandered me" about the tomahawk "from Allen West"... "as if I brought a weapon."
Note: CRKT sells this exact model with a full description.
  • "Those two claim to be Christians."
  • "Those two heiffers are just two little rich girls."
  • "Don't get an attitude because you think you know everything better, just because you a rich little white girl."

False Claims of Prophetic Authority

Odle states:

  • "I'm a messenger"
  • "I'm a prophet"
  • "I'm the last warning they're gonna get"

This is an extraordinary claim. Scripture demands testing:

“Thus says the Lord concerning the prophets who lead my people astray… who say ‘Peace’ when there is no peace.” — Jeremiah 23:16–17
“If a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord and the word does not come to pass… that is a word the Lord has not spoken.” — Deuteronomy 18:22

Self-appointment is not biblical calling. Another leader telling you what to do, isn't a biblical calling either.

Personal connection with church spiritual abuse: I know this personally, because I was being pushed into pastoral studies as a teen, yet I was NOT called to ministry... I did not belong in the pulpit. I realized following my church's leaders put me outside of God's will. It harmed me, and almost harmed others.
I originally wanted the coolness of the late 2000s young pastors, but I quickly realized I was dealing with real people, real hearts, real problems... and I didn't want to step between those people and eternal salvation.

Biblical Prophets:

  • Were reluctant, not self-promoting
  • Were accountable
  • Did not campaign for political office while threatening judgment on voters

Spiritual Coercion of Voters

My opinion: This is straight out of the playbook of spiritual abusers.

Odle strongly insinuates:

  • Voters will be judged if they do not support him.
  • Political disagreement equals rebellion against God

This directly violates Christian liberty:

“Each one must be fully convinced in his own mind.” — Romans 14:5
“For freedom Christ has set us free… do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” — Galatians 5:1

Threatening spiritual consequences for political choices is pastoral abuse.

Weaponizing "End Times" Fear

I faced this as a teenager. I spent years of having nightmares, in fear, from what my pastor at the time taught. Through the song "White Horse" by Skillet, I found comfort, after reading more of the Bible myself, to understand better. Today, sometimes I wonder and wish it would be sooner that we hear the trumpet, with all of the upheaval, and terrible events.

Odle's claims include:

  • "Final delusion"
He said: Aliens... as the deception.
  • America uniquely warned and judged
  • Churches that disagree are blind and corrupt

Jesus warned explicitly about this tactic:

“See that no one leads you astray… Many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he,’ and they will lead many astray.” — Mark 13:5–6

Fear-based theology produces control, not repentance.

Flat Earth as a Test of Faith (Unbiblical Standard)

Odle asserts:

  • People "lose their faith" because churches reject his cosmology/account of the creation story.
  • Universities destroy faith by rejecting flat earth claims

Scripture never makes cosmology a salvation test. Ever.

“The kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” — Romans 14:17

To bind consciences where Scripture does not is legalism. Take a look at Jesus's responses through the Bible, to the Pharisees, Sadducees, etc.

Misuse of Scripture as a Bludgeon

Passages cited (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Proverbs) are:

  • Removed from historical context
  • Applied selectively to opponents
  • Never turned inward toward self-examination

Biblical warning:

“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me.” — John 5:39

Scripture is not a cudgel for enemies; it is a mirror, a guide, and a historical account good also for reproof.

Racial and Class Mockery from the Pulpit

This offends me a bit. We are created on equal standing. From ash to ash, and dust to dust. We were all born naked and helpless, not self sufficient. Our spiritual life is often much the same.

I brake for squirrels. I respect God's creatures, including those we have in the food chain. It's stewardship.

I'm talking about Odle's statements like:

  • “I’m white, I can say that”
  • Mocking “rich little white girls”

This directly contradicts apostolic teaching:

“There is neither Jew nor Greek… for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” — Galatians 3:28

Mockery disguised as humor is still contempt. Odle seems to be leading his church by example, and they are very comfortable with that at Faith and Fire Church in Opelika, AL.

The Biblical Test That Matters

Jesus’ test of leadership is simple:

“You will recognize them by their fruits.” — Matthew 7:16

Odle demonstrates:

  • Pride, Mockery, Fear-mongering, Self-exaltation, Political coercion, Division.

These are not the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23).

Closing Statement

This response is not written out of spite.
It is written out of obedience to Scripture. It is also for information for the voters of the State of Alabama, so that they know who they are really dealing with.

Silence becomes complicity, if you are a Christian giving a pass to this kind of thing, when a pastor:

  • Claims prophetic authority
  • Manipulates private conversations
  • Uses the pulpit to attack individuals
  • Threatens voters with judgment
  • Blends conspiracy, politics, and fear
“Not many of you should become teachers… for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.” — James 3:1

I knew when to step back and understand, that I was not called to ministry. Those who run counter to God's will, often find themselves frustrated, damaged, and damages others.
